BTEC Examining Body: EDEXCEL

The BTEC Music course would be suitable for any student with a genuine interest in music and with a future ambition to have a career in the performing arts or the music industry.

The course will be taught in 3 equal parts covering each specific unit in detail. Students will have the opportunity to be proactive in their learning and will be expected to develop independent learning skills with guidance from the teacher. All units of work will taught with the expectation that students will develop their own individual coursework portfolios through investigation and practical scenarios.

Assessment will be through 100% coursework completion. This coursework will be completed during timetabled lessons at school or can be completed outside school through using the Virtual Learning Environment.

GCSE Examining Body: AQA

This new specification is very exciting indeed as the Examining Board has now recognised that performances can be completed by means of ICT as well as traditional instruments. The course has been modernised and is supportive of the students' ICT music technological abilities, as well as the more traditional roles. The GCSE course is an extension of KS3 studies and is therefore accessible to all students who have been successful in their studies thus far.

The GCSE Music course would be suitable for any student with a genuine interest in music and with a future ambition to have a career in education, the performing arts, the music industry, music therapy etc.
