Mathematics holds a key position amongst the core subject, and as such remains compulsory after Year 9. There are also very strong links between the level of achievement in Mathematics and future earning potential.

The new Mathematics curriculum, which all students follow, is intended to prepare students for using Mathematics in real life as well as preparing some students for studying Mathematics post - 16.
What can I do with this qualification when I leave school?
Mathematics can either be studied at Foundation or Higher tiers both of which can lead to a GCSE grade C.
The higher course is designed for those students who may wish to study Mathematics at an advanced level after leaving Graham School whereas the foundation course equips students with the basic mathematical and numerical skills required in the modern workplace.
Both the Sixth Form College and Yorkshire Coast College are keen that students arrive with as high as grade as possible in Mathematics.
The Key Stage 4 Mathematics curriculum at both schools builds upon the progress that students have made in Key Stage 3. Students study the entire curriculum which is divided into four areas, Number, Shape and Space, Algebra and Handling Data.
