Geography

Examining Body: EDEXCEL

Geography is a modular subject which means that students undertake a series of exams throughout the two year course. They will take one exam in June 2012, one in January 2013 and one in June 2013.

There is a choice of Higher and Foundation paper and teachers will work with students to which paper best suits the student's ability for each of the units studied. The course consists of 4 modules including Geographical Skills, The Human World, The Natural World and one piece of coursework based upon fieldwork that the students undertake in Year 10.

What can I do with this qualification when I leave school?

  • Geography at grade C or better forms part of the English Baccalaureate.
  • In terms of progression many students who have studied Geography at GCSE go on to study it at AS level and beyond.
  • This subject is valued by employers and is useful in many careers including development officers, teachers and researchers.
