Examining Body: AQA

Product Design is a course that combines the material areas and focuses on Industrial Practices for making High Quality Products.

During the course you will:

• Design and make a variety of different products focusing on the industrial practices involved.
• Plan and make solutions to different problems
• Test and evaluate existing products, components and your designs.
• Use ICT to help you design, as well as collect research information and present your ideas.
• Learn how to use hand and machine tools safely to shape, form and join different materials.
• Select the right material, or combination of materials for the job.
• Organise and plan effectively.
• Understand the effective use of CAD / CAM fir design and making High Quality products.

The Way Ahead and Jobs

GCSE Product Design will give you a good start for A and AS Levels, Vocational and Degree courses at colleges and universities.

Jobs include: Industrial Designer / Product Designer / Graphic Designer / Manufacturing / Design Illustrator / 3D Exhibition / Packaging Design / Creative Arts / Set & Prop Designer / Engineering / Teaching / Industrial Buyer.
