Design & Technology
The Design and Technology Department offers a range of GCSE courses selected from the AQA specifications. All the specifications aim to enable students to develop their technological capability and to combine their designing and making skills with knowledge and understanding, in order to design and make quality products. They provide opportunities for students to develop their critical and aesthetic abilities, enabling them to evaluate design and technology activity, including their own. Students will be required to consider aspects of past and present design in society. The scheme of assessment is similar for all design and technology subjects, i.e. Terminal Examination 40% Coursework / Controlled Assessment 60% Coursework includes designing and planning, making and supporting written and graphical work. In all courses, the use of Information Technology is encouraged and developed. |
