Examining Body: EDEXCEL

The course is the equivalent of 2 GCSE's graded at Distinction* (A*A*), Distinction (AA), Merit (BB) and Pass (CC).

The qualification will appeal if you:

  • Enjoy studying a subject that is relevant to your life and experiences.
  • Have a keen interest in business and how it operates.
  • Want to find out more about business through personal investigation.
  • Want to study a course that is active, enjoyable and 'profitable'.
  • Want to move to a related career or further education.

Students who study this subject will be able to gain access to level 3 courses in further education at organisations such as Scarborough Sixth Form College and Yorkshire Coast College.

Typical progression routes following the BTEC in Business would be to access A-Level Business and the BTEC Diploma in Business. The course can also lead to employment within the industry of Business & Administration.

It is initially made up of three Units of work in year 10 based around Business Purposes, Business Organisations and Financial Forecasting for Business. A further 3 units will be studied during year 11.

The course is 100% based around coursework and there is no exam. The course will therefore have continual assessment taking place over the 2 years of study.
